International Association of Researchers of History and Culture of Russian Germans

— an international public organization uniting in its ranks more than 130 scientists (historians, ethnographers, sociologists, philologists, linguists, philosophers, political scientists, cultural scientists and art historians) from 10 countries all over the world. Created in 1995. Since 2002, the chairman of the Association is Professor Arkady German (Saratov State University). Since 2003, is an associate member of the International Union of German Culture.

The main activities of the Association:

  • organization of research work on the history and culture of Russian Germans in the old and new regions of compact residence of Russian Germans;
  • study of archival materials, identification of documents on the history and culture of Russian Germans, in cooperation with central and regional archives, preparation of annotated indexes, inventories, collections of documents;
  • field research;
  • implementation of sociological research;
  • generalization and systematization of scientific research, their testing at regularly held international scientific conferences;
  • publishing;
  • statement of information work based on the printed organ of the Association;
  • popularization of the history of Russian Germans through the preparation of teaching aids and materials, the organization and conduct of historical and local history work.

There is an electronic library on the RusDeutsch portal, which contains most of the books on the history and culture of Russian Germans, an illustrated electronic version of the manual “History of the Germans of Russia”, a virtual museum (being updated).

Currently, the International Association of Researchers of History and Culture of Russian Germans (IARHCRG) is implementing the following important projects: “A new electronic illustrated encyclopedia of the Germans of Russia”; “Register of German settlements of Russia”, “Electronic book in memory of Russian Germans”.
